The Behringer X-Air XR18 is a digital mixer and multi-channel audio interface. It gives the user a high level of control over all audio in- and outputs during an experiment.

Installation
The XR18 audio mixers placed in the labs are fully pre-installed and ready to go. The following steps only serve as reference for new or mobile setups.
Connection
The XR18 communicates with its digital interface via Ethernet, either wired or wireless. We offer several solutions for wired connections as described below, but recommend the first one.
Connection with hub, DHCP Server
Here described is a connection with the Kensington UH3000-e hub.
Make sure the connection of the Behringer is set to 'DHCP Server'. If it is not, use the second connection method to change the setting.
Now connect the Kensington hub to a USB port on the computer. Preferably use a USB3 port (these ports are marked 'ss' and/or have a blue inside like the ports on the hub itself). Connect the Kensington hub to the Behringer XR18 with an ethernet (RJ45/8p8c) cable. Use the port that is marked 'remote' on the XR18. The cable will also fit in the port marked 'ultranet', but this will not do.
Additionally you may want to connect the hub with the XR18 with a USB2-AB cable. This is not necessary for controlling the mixer, but additional functionality becomes available if you do.
Make sure the switch on the XR18 is set to 'ethernet'.
Your can now start the software.
Connection without hub, DHCP
Connect both your computer and the XR18 to a ethernet (RJ45/8p8c) wall outlet. Make sure the connection is set to 'DHCP'. The is the default. The XR18 will revert to this setting if you press the reset button for 2 seconds.
Make sure the switch on the XR18 is set to 'ethernet'.
Your can now start the software.
Interface
The TSG has developed a custom, simplified interface for controlling the XR18 mixer called 'Beer'. This program can be found in the start menu on our lab computers (StartAll ProgramsBehringer).If you require more controls and options, you can use the official Behringer 'X-Air-Edit' program.
Beer
Beer shows the audio sources (microphone 1, microphone 2, PC output) where the sound comes from on the bottom, and to the right are the outputs (phones 1, PC input, phones 2, speakers, monitor), i.e. where the sound goes to. The grid in between shows what is connected to what.
In the example on the right, sound goes from the first microphone to the first set of headphones. The experiment leader can use his own set of headphones to listen in on what the participant is hearing (monitor: phones 1).
Press 'get ip' to query where the XR18 is. Then press 'use' to use this device. You can also type the address manually if you want, which is unlikely.

If you require a more elaborate setup than the simple Beer interface can provide, please consult the TSG or the official X-Air Edit documentation.

| I am wondering if anyone has a tutorial (copy or video) on how to set up the Behringer XR 18 Air with Presonus Studio One 3 PRO... I tried before and could not get it to talk correctly but others have said it works and I would love to start using the unit to record mobile instead of just live mixes. I am running Mac OS Sierra (latest) on iMac Desktop and Macbook Pro laptop... I have Studio One V3 installed on both. I have Studio One working with my other interfaces but could never get the XR 18 to work right. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks in advance!! |
| What issues do you have? The xr18 is automatically detected by the Mac and should be available as an audio interface in studioone. | I couldnt get studio one to show any audio input... I could see on the XR software input.. but studio one didnt detect anything... just wondering if I configured something wrong... lol |
| As for a quickie, select the xr18 as the audio interface in studioone and then select the studiolive16 as the template. The outputs on the xr18 defaults to the mixbuses so depending on how you want to use the outputs you may need to re-route the outputs for the daw to directly access those. This should be a good start... | I am home and I have it up ...I see signal going into studio one... but I have nothing coming out of the mains for output... in studio one I am trying to configure the outputs now so I can monitor them |

Behringer X18 Air Download Mac Os
| I am wondering if you could post a video on the set up on you tube ...Behringer assumes I own a MAC and use logic ... I would like to see the connection from the beginning to the end ...from input of a track to output of the monitoring of it. I bet that more then a few of us would appreciate this who are PC, Behringer xr18 and Studio One. If you or anyone else can talk me through it I would greatly appreciate this. Keith |
| I have been trying to set up my Behringer XR18 with Studio One 3 Windows (SO3) for two months—with only partial success. You first need to install the XR18 Windows driver in order for SO3 to recognize it. SO3 recognizes the XR18 as an audio input (XR18 USB out -> USB in on Windows 10 PC), we have mapped the XR18 channels to SO3 tracks, and we can record any of the channels. No problem. However, SO3 will not playback unless I change the audio input from the XR18 to Windows Audio. Only then can I play the recorded tracks. But then, I cannot record with the XR18 again until I change the audio input back to the XR18. PreSonus suggested I install the ASIO4ALL driver, which I did. SO3 does recognize the ASIO4ALL driver, and I can select the XR18 as the input, and Windows Audio components as the output. With the ASIO4ALL driver, I can now play the tracks, but it won't recognize the XR18 input. After not being able to get that working, this is what PreSonus support said: This is most definitely a Behringer with Studio One issue. Behringer does not have an ASIO audio driver. We have seen mixed results with their products. We have seen ASIO4all help with this, but we can't troubleshoot ASIO4all. So, if anyone has an XR18 successfully recording, with playback, into Studio One 3, please post here. OR, I will pay for consulting time if someone on the forum can successfully get this working. | I do not understand why presonus would say that the xr18 doesn’t have any asio driver. This is simply not true. Go to https://www.music-group.com/Categories/ ... /downloads and download the “x air usb asio driver 4.11”. This ought to get you going.
